Item not returned by buyer

Sold a set of items. Buyer claimed to eBay that they arrived damaged and asked for refund. Got returned package but one item was missing.  What is my recourse?

Have you tried contacting the buyer? eBay really can’t help, and you are not able to issue a partial refund, so the best thing to do is nicely ask the buyer if he forgot the missing part.
