Incorrect listing

Is it inappropriate to contact a seller re an incorrect listing?

I recently saw an item with which I am very familiar and it is not what the seller is saying it is - simply through lack of knowledge, with no attempt to mislead buyers. I honestly think that if it were listed correctly, it would sell immediately!

Re: Incorrect listing

You certainly can. Some sellers will be appreciative and thank you for your kindness and others will become unhinged and add you to their blocked buyer list after sending an inappropriate response.

Whatever response you receive, it's a reflection on them and not you. If you're intent is well-meaning, that's what counts.

ditto inceptions.  In fact, I have made such notifications myself, and some of them thanked me for the help and revised the listing.  Others did not react to my information.  I haven't yet had one go berserk and send me a flaming reply for my trouble, but there's always tomorrow.  😃

Re: Incorrect listing

Hi @artcoltd2000_8  I contact the seller when there seems to be an unintentional error in their listing.  The postage being crazy high is usually the reason.  I start the message with "I hope you don't mind me contacting you...."  One was a YouTube celebrity seller and she said that she knew the shipping was way too high, but for unknown reasons she couldn't fix it.  She was the only one that said she knew.  Everyone else has said thanks for telling me.  Your reason for telling them is way better.  If they have a fast sale item on their hands and don't realize it, they'll appreciate someone letting them know.  Good luck!

Re: Incorrect listing

Thank you. I think your idea to start w/a disclaimer or 'apology' is a good one.

Now, thanks to lots of support from the eBay community, I feel emboldened to contact the seller.
