When you need to return an item to an Ebay seller, you must go through the Ebay Return Request process in order to utilize Ebay's Money Back Guarantee. If you did that, you could have Ebay step in to help you if the seller is not cooperative.

If you sent an item back without going through eBay, the seller will not be forced to refund (it's considered a gift). However, a gracious seller might do so.
