Hello
i have recently purchased a trading card from a seller and i bought 3 different cards, however i received two of the same card so one of the cards i bought didnt arrive.
i have contacted the seller and asked to send the card i wanted rather than a refund
and they agreed and asked for me send back the extra card
do i ask them to send a pre paid return label or do i go to my country post office and ship it through it?
Ps. This is my first time ever shipping internationally through post office or in general so am not sure what to do.
Please help and thank you so much

Go and take a look at your purchase history. You can find it on the top right of any Ebay page. Hover over the words My Ebay. A menu will appear, click on Purchase history. Find the transaction. Look to the right there is likely to be a large blue box you can click on that says Return This Item.
OR
eBay Help page

1. Go to Purchase history.
2. Select More actions beside your item and then Return this Item.
3. Now you select the reason you are requesting the return for refund.
4. You have the option of adding a message to the seller.
5. Select Send request.

Thank you so much for your answer.
i do want to return the extra copy however i do not want a refund but rather the card that i originally ordered.
I read that before going to ebay and open a case its better to contact the seller first which is why i chatted with them on how to handle the situation and came to conclusion that they will ship the card i was missing and i will ship back extra card
here is where am not to sure on what to do
Do i just pay up the shipping costs and have them pay me back ( i dont have paypal) or ask them for the return prepaid label to ship the item back at their expense

I understand you want what you ordered. I would too if I were you, but it is unlikely that is going to happen.
Yes I always encourage a buyer to contact their seller first. I didn't say it here because you said you had already contacted them.
You need to be careful. You are protected by the Money Back Guarantee for 30 days from the date you received the original package. If you go past that date without filing a claim, you will no longer be protected and your seller doesn't have to reship anything much less refund you. So make sure you know your dates and don't go past that window without filing your claim or you will simply be out the money.
NO you should NOT pay for the return shipping costs for the cards that need to be returned. The seller needs to give you a return shipping label. They can do that. The mistake made was not made by you, so you should not have to spend another dime. If your seller tells you anything different, they are wrong.
If you pay for return shipping, there is no way to make sure the seller repays you the cost.
You do have the option to open a claim now and the seller can still do what they have said their are going to do. It will protect you and your money. I would suggest asking the seller for the tracking number on the shipment of the correct card. If you can't get that by tomorrow, then something is wrong.

I truly appreciate your help and advice thank you so much.
I will ask for return shipping label and that they ship the card that i wanted if not or they get unresponsive i will open a case i still have at least 3 weeks money guaranteed window
again thank you so much am still new to all things related to ebay so this will help me a lot rn and in the future.

You are very welcome. Make sure you are correct about that 3 weeks left. You don't want to run out of time and no longer be covered under the Money Back Guarantee.

Yes i will keep track of it thank you so much again.
i wanted to clarify on that the seller asked me before i read your 4th reply that i pay for the shipping and then send them the transaction receipt to partially refund me the amount, i should not continue with it right i should just ask for the return label?
i did send them about the return label waiting for a response but i just wanted to make sure that am not being disruptive and not cooperate with them by just doing what they asked for.
thank you and sorry for asking again i just want to make sure am doing the right thing on ebay.

You aren't doing anything wrong. It is your seller's responsibility to pay the shipping to have their items returned to them. Yes, tell them to issue the return label from within the claim you opened. And yes they can do that no matter what the seller tells you.

Ok thank you for the reassurance truly appreciate it.
am only asking for the reason that the card is hard to find and i do not want them to go back on it and just issue a refund that is why am kinda overthinking it.
i have sent and asked them to issue a return label but its been almost two days and no response yet i will wait till the start of next week if no response i will just issue a claim.
may i ask that by issuing a claim that wont necessarily mean that i can only ask for a refund right ? I can still ask for the actual item to shipped?
thank you so much truly.

There is simply NO WAY you can insure the seller will not go back on their word.
Watch the INAD you opened. In a couple day another option will appear, if the seller doesn't issue a return label, that will allow you to select it and it has Ebay Step In. You want to do that when it comes available. I think this seller is NOT going to do what they agreed to do. I don't think you are getting that other card. If this seller was going to do that, they would have stayed in contact with you and would have already issue the return label.
Unfortunately it is not likely this is going to turn out the way you are hoping it will. But at the least, you can get your money back.

I hope they keep their word but yeah seems like they are not going to do what they said they will do.
am sorry if i sound dumb but i have not opened any INAD i only contacted the seller about the wrong item and that is all.
i should have opened one immediately after receiving the wrong item?
and should i open one now immediately?
i thought i would wait out the weekend
01-24-2025 01:00 PM
I do NOT think you sound "dumb". I think you are a buyer that purchased something that they really wanted and your seller won't fix the mistake they made.
WAIT, I though you already opened and INAD for item not as described. If you have not, DON'T wait the weekend, file it NOW. Having this claim in place will NOT prevent the seller to honor what they told you that they would do, it would ENCOURAGE them to follow threw. PLEASE one the claim now so you and your money are protected.

Oh ok i will be doing that right now then i just assumed from all what i have read elsewhere regarding issues on ebay that contact seller first but did not know that its ok to start a claim but doesnt necessarily mean that ebay had to get involved immediately.
I truly cannot thank you enough for all the help and advice.

You did contact the seller first. The seller has had a few days and they haven't resolved your issue. They have said they would be have not taken any action to do so.
In order to make sure you don't end up outside of the date that Ebay will protect you, IMHO it is time to file the claim. This gives the seller the opportunity to respond to you in a formal way and to issue a return return shipping label. The seller has three days to respond once you open a Request for Return. If that time passes and the seller has not responded AND issue you a return shipping label or a full refund, there will be an option on the Return Request for either party to ask Ebay to step in.
If that happens, I would advise you to ask Ebay to step in as clearly your seller is no longer willing to work with you. Ebay's likely reaction will be to force the seller to fully refund you and you won't be required to return the cards you received. I know this would not be the outcome you want, but I really don't think this seller has any intention to honor what they told you they would do. I'm hoping they prove me wrong, but I doubt they will.

I want to just add that you have been an absolute DELIGHT to converse with. You are very reasonable and very polite. Your seller is so wrong on many levels. They should treat you well as in doing so would likely gain a repeat buyer for a long time to come. Return customers are wonderful. I take good care of the ones I get and am very thankful for each and every one of them. I am so sorry this happened to you. 😍
