How to mark an item as sold?

I recently just sold my first item. I am waiting for the tracking number to be verified and I have not yet received the money for this item. But how do I now mark the item as sold so no one else attempts to purchase it? Does it happen automatically when I receive the money through PayPal/Ebay?

As a new seller with a high value item you will be a target for scammers.

I suspect you are being scammed.  Did the buyer ask for your Paypal email address?  DO NOT SHIP.  You have one item listed and it has NOT been sold.  When an item is sold, ebay automatically marks it as sold and you should see it in your Seller Hub > Orders 

either Awaiting Payment, or Awaiting shipment

When this item does sell, be sure to use Signature Required, because the item is more than $750.00

Definitely a scam, as @disneyshopper  described.  In case you're not convinced, I bet if you look at the actual sending email address of that message, it is not paypal. 

It is a pretty good fake, except for the awkward wording -   'fund' should be 'funds'  'tracking number of postage' -   a package has a tracking #, not postage, etc.

Thank you all. I'm contacting the postal service to have to packaged returned to me before it arrives at the location.

Your item has NOT sold.

You do nothing until someone buys your item ON EBAY and PAYS for the item through Ebay.

Why are you waiting for "the tracking number to be verified"??

If someone told you they will pay after you give them a tracking number showing the item is being shipped, you are being SCAMMED!! 

Do NOT ship the item until it shows up in your sold items, and you have been notified BY EBAY that the buyer has paid and ok to ship.

I bet you will always remember now,  never ship until the item shows in your waiting for shipment list in your sold items.
