You would think if you're selling an item you have more than 2 of, that the shipping price would simply increase for each additional item purchased, but it seems to only be a one time price by default. Which means if you have something that sells for $10 and costs $10 to ship, then someone can simply buy 10 of them for $100 and still only $10 in shipping, and you end up losing $90 (more or less depending on how the item needs to be packed) on shipping.
It doesn't explain this anywhere, though I was really lucky to have discovered this through someone attempting to make an offer on multiple items which I was able to decline, otherwise I would have lost money. And I can't find any options or settings to change this.
I tired looking up posts relating to this but the information is outdated or unclear. How are you supposed to charge shipping for each item and not just the same price for 1 as for 100?

I have created a calculated shipping rule for my listings where I want weights combined to increase the shipping charged to the buyer. When listing each item using the desktop advanced listing tool, I enter the weight and dimension of each and click the box to turn on that rule. I chose to add a handling cost at the listing level, but don't currently populate it.
Start on your shipping preferences page:
Account - shipping - preferences - EIS
On the row to "Allow combined payments and shipping", edit to allow combined shipping.
Then, edit the "Calculated shipping rule" where you can make selections like these:
Account - shipping rule - calculated
Return to your listing and turn on the "Calculated shipping rule" and then replenish the multi-quantity and save. Go to your listing and place one item in your cart, and then raise that to two items to see what the checkout screen displays.
Checkmark every listing that should use this rule, but be careful about box size. I'm selling magazines this way and can work with flat rate envelopes up to a certain count, and then have to go to a box, which is no longer flat rate. So think ahead.

I checked on the "Quick Lister" and there is no way to add shipping rules. The shipping options are pretty basic.
At the very top of your "Quick Lister", there is a link to "Switch to business tool" (the business tool will have triple dots at the top). If you are using a desktop browser and don't see the option to switch, your browser is too narrow. eBay won't show that link if the window is narrower than about 1000 pixels (my iPad is 960 pixels and it won't display). When my browser is narrow, I can fool the program by using the zoom option to make the print smaller, and then the option to switch will appear.
Additionally, you may not be allowed to switch on an active listing. You may need to start a new listing to switch.
We want your journey here to be as great as can be, so we have put together some links to help you get quickly familiarized with the eBay Community.
