How many tracking numbers do "GLOBAL SHIPPING" packages have from origin to destination?
Tracking from Origin Country to local Hub
Tracking from Hub to Destination Port
Tracking from Destination Port to Local Country's Mail Service?

Each carrier issues its own tracking number and with international shipping, there will be multiple carriers. eBay posts as many tracking numbers as needed to keep you informed.

Your answer is appreciated! Perhaps you can tell me why, when I just received a notice that my item had arrived in Akron, Ohio, that it would be delivered to ME at MY address 1,572 miles away from Akron Ohio. I look forward to hearing why buyers get such vastly incorrect information regarding delivery of their purchases to their actual address. Best regards,

Sounds like one of two things happened:
1. USPS misdelivered the package.
2. Your seller shipped to the wrong address.
Again, the tracking comes from the carrier - not eBay. eBay just posts the information the carrier sends them.
The first thing to do is to contact USPS to ask which occurred and ask for confirmation on their letterhead so that you can use it in a dispute.
You'll need to open a case for an item not received using the option next to the order in your Purchase History. eBay's system will automatically close it as there is a delivery scan. When that happens, you can appeal following the instructions here:

I do not think your assessment is correct. Below is an image of "packages" at what is obviously some sort of big mail processing center, which I presume to be eBay's Global Shipping HUB. Additionally, these things that travel via eBay's Global Shipping NEVER arrive in my area of the U.S. with the sort of speed that would have gotten it from the UK to me in the high desert of the U.S.

OK, you didn't mention this was an international package being processed through a hub. Which carrier scanned it as delivered? Was it scanned as delivered to YOUR address, or to a hub. It may still be on the way.
And yes... packages that are shipped through a global shipping hub will take longer than shipping directly as there is more processing involved.
