How is it that I have to autopay- but seller doesnt fulfill the sale. Ebay is tanking and fast

Ebay needs to do better with this.   They make the autopay feature to stop shill bidding but the seller refuses to send the item for the price won.    This eliminates the purpose of auto pay.  The buyer gets the bad end of the stick again.   There are no consequences now for sellers cancelling 20 items a month with making up an excuse that buyer wanted to cancel(when its a complete lie).  It does absolutely no harm to them.  After nearly 24 years on ebay as. a buyer and seller, i never thought id be looking at another platform.  but the time has come.   Sellers are having warranted negative feedback removed.   Constant and obvious shill bidding occurs with no consequence.   Its getting real old.

Autopay has absolutely nothing to do with shill bidding or making sellers ship; it only prevents buyers from bidding and not paying.

 

Sellers that cancel without a valid reason do not last long on eBay before the account is closed if buyers report those sellers, so by choosing sellers carefully and avoiding inexperienced sellers you can vastly reduce the chance of running into such a seller.

So what happens when multiple sellers have 1000 negative feedbacks in just one month and ebay does nothing about it?    This is happening with their so called power sellers and absolutely nothing happens to them.  Im very aware of how ebay works, Ive been on the platform for 25 years.

eBay does not use feedback to measure sellers; feedback is for buyers to gauge the reputation of a seller. eBay uses other measures such as numbers of returns, items not received, and items cancelled without sufficient cause.

If individual buyers think that a seller with a high number of negatives in the last month is not sufficiently reliable, then those buyers will not do business with that seller, regardless of what eBay thinks.

 

The only active sellers I have seen with a thousand negative feedback ratings are mega-sellers with hundreds of thousands of positive feedback in the same time period.
