Hi,
Im new here (selling) and usually I can find something to base the price on either using eBay sold, or Etsy, or going on Amazon and the Company website etc. But I found a set of salt and pepper shakers that are made by Dept. 56 and I have tried the active website, the retired site, and everything I can think of to come up with a price and I can find nothing. I can find the same theme, but not what I have. I am sure there are other sites that I am unaware of, do you have any suggestions as to other places to look for comparables? Thanks for any assistance.

If they were mine, I would list them in auction format for 99 cent opening bid with a shipping cost sufficient to cover a zone 8 buyer.
If you are worried about them selling for only 99 cents, then up the starting bid to the least you would let them go for. Don't be surprised though if they don't sell.

The purpose of an auction is for the market to set the price when you can't put a good fixed price on it. Set the Starting Price at the very least you are willing and able to sell them for (don't forget to figure in fees and packing/shipping expenses not covered by what you will charging as separate s/h AND to cover self-insurance for lost and damaged in transit, and the extra fees on what you add to cover those fees and possible sales tax).
