Help with a seller that closed the return status after I shipped the item bsck

I bought a piece of jewelry and discovered that it was fake after I received the item.

I contacted the seller and they told me to ship the item back and once they received the item they would refund me.  They also told me they would pay for shipping.

i have all the messages and documents.

I did not get my refund and  eBay told me when I called to open a return request 

the seller refused 

stating it was past 30 days.

the item was shipped before the 30 day deadline 

How can I get eBay to honor their money back guarantee and get my money back?

You have 30 days to Open a Return Request for an ITEM NOT AS DESCRIBED. Seller will pay for the return, if he wants it back, and/or refund. If no response by the fourth day, go back and ask ebay to step in. Do not close or let the case expire without doing this, if not resolved. 

If you did not do the above and/or used your own funds for the return, the best you can do is file for a refund through the payment processor, but you will not be getting you return shipping cost back.
