Bought a compact tractor grapple bucket and listed weight (375lb.) was big deciding factor in purchase of single cylinder model as dual weighed approximately 550 lb. Shipping bill of lading showed 540lb. and pallet was standard size and not fully planked one. Called sellers website for actual weight and told model was about 500lb. not listed 375lb. and also told had to handle problem through eBay. Messaged seller and told them what BOL showed for weight and what their website told me and they wrote back that it did weigh 375lb.
Decided to put on my industrial scale rated for 800lb and it showed bucket at 465lb. and very poor pallet it was on was 22lb. So total close to shipping BOL weight shown. I liked the grapple bucket just not fact it was about 100lb. heavyer than I was told. I ordered a lighter bucket intending to permanently attach it to my tractor but with it heavyer decided to keep the bucket I'd have to convert my loader to quick attach to be able to put my lighter regular bucket back on when not using the heavy grapple. Asked for some compensation in form of a couple quick attach plates to modify my loader setup and was told if I wasn't happy to send the grapple bucket back. Really??? Sure just throw it back on the **bleep** pallet and sure.. it's no big deal to set up a pickup at the business I had it delivered to. I then asked for only one of the quick attach plates that the sell shipped for $150. That is less than the $179 they charged me for shipping it to me so I assume same cost for them to ship it back as they'd have to pay due to its being not as described. They didn't reply after a couple days so I initiated a return. I was not going to keep something not at weight I ordered it to be and especially not from a company that gave me a runaround on the situation. 4 days after I requested a return they sent return info that had a Bill of lading already scheduled for pick up the next day at my brother's business I had it delivered to. When delivered I made a point to let them know someone had to call me at some point when it was close to arriving as there was not always someone at my brother's business. They just scheduled pickup for day after sending return info which was just a message from eBay informing me of the return details which just showed the new BOL for pickup. No instructions from them or asking me if I could be there the next day. Sure...no problem for me to throw the close to 500lb. Bucket back on the **bleep** pallet that was partially broken from shipping it to me. Guess I'd have had to supply a new one and strap it to it myself too???? How do I know..they didn't give any instructions on any of those details just a return bill of lading !!!! ..... Really great way to handle my already disappointing purchase!
So to make matters worse, I got home end of day they sent return info for next day pick up and someone had backed into the grapple bucket while in my possession causing some damage so now I had to keep it and cancelled the return request which was same day they sent the info but the trucking company still showed up looking for it. Quess they didn't care about letting the trucker know it wasn't going back and wasting his time. I can fix the bucket as damage was only minor. I am not the kind of person who would send it back after it being damaged while I had it though I should have. I welcome any opinions or thoughts on what you would do. I feel I should have been at least compensated with the $150 attach plate they sell or an equal value in refund. I'd mention the sellers ID here think it's against policy.
