FRAUD ON MY ACCOUNT

Been trying since May 25 to reach a person regarding fraud on my account.  I have requested a call back 21 times since then,  no call.  Does anyone have a number I can reach ebay Fraud on that will work?   I called the supposed fraud line 961-9253 and just get in a loop.

@linman   You said you tried the 961 -9253 number?   Did you dial 866 and not 800?

This is the dedicated number for Hacked Accounts: 1-866-961-9253

( customer service agents at this number can only help with account security issues)

Here's my advice to help secure your account:

#1 Run a full scan with your virus software to remove any spyware from your computer.

#2 Go to my eBay> account>personal information and make sure that all information is correct including your cell phone number, registered email and ship from and to addresses.

https://accountsettings.ebay.com/profile

#3 Go to the security center and complete ALL of these steps>

https://accounts.ebay.com/acctsec/security-center

a) Change your password and secret questions

b) For extra protection consider turning on two-step verification.

c) Unlink all Social Sign in methods and change your passwords on those accounts too. The hacker will be able to use the social sign in links to sign in to your account again if you do not disconnect this option.

#4 Secure your email account.

Change the passwords and secret questions. Be sure to use different passwords and secret questions on eBay and your email. Do not use these passwords on any other account.
Hacked accounts often start with a hacked email account.

#5 Calling is the only way to report hacked accounts for security reasons.

IF you are outside the US or Canada you will need to use Skype to call.

Be sure to ask for a credit for sellers fees if the hacker used your account to sell any items.

FRAUD ON MY ACCOUNT

Thank you for your reply.

Yes I used the 866 number.  I have already done all the things suggested except 2 step verification because it is annoying.  When I got the 866 number, as soon as I gave them my zip code they found my account and said it is restricted because of the buyers reports.  Then they said go to the website for further help.  Click. Someone listed 4 high dollar items and 2 sold.  Ebay removed the other two.   I had one person on chat but not sure how I ever got them,  and they said they would take care of it - that was over a week ago.  Today ebay emailed me they were taking $2000++ out of my bank account.  Thankfully I closed that account 3 years ago when I quit selling items.  Now I just buy things.    I am at wits end.

@linman  YIKES>  I would keep calling the 866 number and hope you get a better agent.  That's about all you can do as that's the department you need to talk to.   I know that when I have called in to report hacked accounts ( not my own)  I have had VERY different experiences depending on the agents.

Oh it wasn’t an agent on the 866 number - everything is automated so I did not get to talk to a human.

@linman. That's odd.     You should be able to call the fraud number.  I'll do some research and get back to you.

@linman  I just called the number and it does refer you to the eBay site BUT also keep listening and it asks what you are calling about.   You need to say hacked account.   Then you should be able to reach a person by providing the info they ask for.

If that doesn't work then your next option is to try this link for general CS>

No, after I gave them my zip code they found my account and said it was restricted and to go on their website ro fix it.  Which I had done 23 times.  I tried the chat at that link and after three people, one who just ended the chat and the next two, after about an hour told me to go to the same site and request a call!!!  23 times I have tried.

@linman   Did the hacker change your phone number on your account?

The phone number you call from when reporting hacked accounts needs to be the same one that's on your account.    Check your account settings here>  https://accountsettings.ebay.com/profile

Here's on other way to reach eBay for a restricted account.

Go this page>

 https://www.ebay.com/help/account/account-restrictions-suspensions/account-restrictions-suspensions?...

Click contact us at the bottom of the page.   Next Type Restricted Account in the chat box on the lower right.  After the chat bot replies Type AGENT so you that you can request a call back or chat with a live agent.  ( this usually works for other members that I have helped with restricted accounts)

Let me know if it works or not.

Will try again tomorrow.  I chatted for about an hour with them and they finally said they can't help and I need to go on website.  23 times was enough for me.
