EBAY POLICY

Since the departure of Meg Whitman, eBay has floundered. This because they do not consult with members.

In its earliest years, all who cared to, would meet with the top people at eBay in an annual event called "eBay Live". It would be held in a different city each year.

At the very first eBay Live, sellers were overwhelmingly opposed to eBay's attempt to lure everyone away from PayPal to adopt "eBay Payments".

Despite all the money, time, and effort eBay had spent setting up EBAY PAYMENTS, Whitman learned from eBay Live that the company had erred. She remedied this by having eBay buy PayPal.

Much like the current US government, eBay somehow snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. eBay did so by selling PayPal.  The heads of eBay ultimately decide policy, but they should consult with the members BEFORE they take action.

In the last year or 2, eBay had a falling out with their largest auction seller of Sport Memorabilia - PWCC. Like eBay/PayPal, they again turned a win, win into a lose, lose.

PWCC went off on their own and came up with THE VAULT. This enabled buyers and sellers of cards to store them in a secure, insured facility. Other companies soon followed and now eBay has done the same.

When a new product enters the market, it is the leader. The owners have an advantage in being first. To challenge or surpass them you must have a noticeably, better product and/or a meaningfully better price.

We have just learned that eBay, again, without consulting the members, has pushed out their version of THE VAULT.

Again, like the government party kleptocrats head, Delaware is the location. No doubt, eBay gains something by locating THE VAULT in Delaware. As for most of its members, NOTHING is gained.

The PWCC vault location is a gain for most of its members. The location is in a TAX-FREE STATE.

The more incompetent an administration is, the less they want to connect with its members.

Try finding a way to question an eBay policy. There is no provision for this on the site. You can of course speak with someone in the Philippines at eBay CS. They will patiently and politely listen to you and then say "this is eBay policy". As no one in the Philippines has anything to do with eBay Policy, you never get to speak to them.

All communiques from eBay NEVER allow you to respond. Have a question? contact CS.

Being a member of eBay for more than 20 years I never refer to eBay with the pronouns “we", "us" or "our".  It is always "they", "them", or "their". This tells you a lot. Obviously, that's the way eBay wants it.
