Did NOT take item to check out.

For some reason, an item I looked at ended up in check out. I do NOT want the item and did not, at least intentionally, take it to check out. How can I cancel this and remove the item from check out? In simple, step-by-step instructions, please.

Are you sure it is not just in your shopping cart?  If in the cart go to it and remove/delete it.  If it is actually in checkout, the best you can do is ask the seller to cancel the transaction.

Already checked. It is not in my shopping cart. I do not understand how it could go directly to check out. If the best that can be done is to ask the seller to cancel, frankly, that option sucks. Hopefully, someone else will have another way.

It is definitely also on my watchlist, as  intended.

Are you using a smart phone or desktop computer when you use ebay?  I use a computer as the text on a phone is teeny tiny.  On my computer, I see Buy It Now, and just below is Add to Cart, and below that is Add to Watchlist.  Since you wanted t use Add to watchlist, is it possible you clicked Add to Cart?  I'm told on a smart phone there is no Remove option (but may have been changed recently).  When using Buy It Now, you still have to confirm so could have backed out at that point).

If the item is in your Purchase history, you need to use CONTACT SELLER and ask nicely to please cancel the transaction.  Since the seller is not obligated to do so, ask nicely.
