I had a buyer make an offer which I countered. They countered for the same amount which I thought was odd but I accepted the offer and as I was hitting the accept button I noticed there was a message at the bottom that said free shipping. Now if I accepted that offer it would have been less than the original offer I received. They didn't change anything on the order just wrote that in. I sent message immediately and told them that free shipping was not part of the deal that I would be taking less than their first offer and ask if they wanted to cancel the order. Heard nothing. I have made contact 3 times with no response. Question....am I obligated to that since it was just written in and they paid the order and paid for shipping.

Hi @sanric135
No ... you aren't obligated to ship free. Per eBay policy ... Best Offers negotiations involve the item price only. Shipping cost (or tax) can NOT be changed. Whatever shipping price is mentioned in the listing will be added on automatically to whatever offer/counteroffer was accepted.
I'm not sure of the current status of the order. If the buyer essentially paid your counteroffer AND shipping cost ... after you accepted their offer that said 'free shipping' ... then you should ship the item.
If the buyer mentions the shipping issue again ... then just tell them that you had no way to adjust shipping cost. Let them know that eBay does not allow shipping costs to be a part of the BO negotiations. [It actually says that on the screen where the buyer makes an offer ... but many buyers apparently don't notice it.]

Oh, Thank you so much! I have worried myself half silly over this. Tried to reach them several times and they would not reply. I offered to let them cancel, everything...and no reply. Just didn't want to do anything wrong or ship it and then have to refund that. Would be silly to accept a lower counter offer and that's what this would have been. Thank you, Thank you! Thank you!
