That is not a valid reason to force a cancellation under eBay rules. You may contact the seller and beg him/her to cancel your bid before the auction ends, but s/he is under no obligation to do so nor to acknowledge the request, and neither not responding nor responding that it's OK with him/her nor that s/he doesn't know how is among the valid reasons.

What does the price of shipping have to do with the price of the item??
Shipping costs go up 2-3 times every single year without fail. If you are not a seller, you would not know how much shipping costs. A small item of just a few ounces is over $5. Factor in dimensions and distance, and it goes higher. Shop by total, price of the item + shipping, rather than dwelling on what shipping is.
