I have a customer that bought something from me and requested that I change the address for the item to be shipped to. The problem I have is that they gave a different name for it to be shipped to also and a different state. It is a fairly expensive item and Im not sure if it is okay to do that on an item purchased.

You never change an address, you must ship to the address attached to the payment to be protected. Chances the person requesting the address change is not even your buyer, just some troll attempting to get a freebie.

It is never OK to change the ship to address once an item is paid for. Are you sure it was the buyer wanting the address change or was it some unknown 3rd party asking for the change? If the latter, it is a scam and you should ship the item to the real buyer's address. If it was really the buyer, you would have to cancel the sale, relist the item and then have the buyer repurchase it using the correct address.
