To all buyers. I am a 20 year veteran of Ebay. I have a premier store with over 3500 items and buy thousands of dollars of parts every year to repair items in my shop. I have not had issues with sellers for a very long time and last time I did, the process was to file a claim, provide all the appropriate documentation and it would be evaluated by Ebay/Paypal and decision granted. I recently purchased a power steering pump and the seller shipped one that was defective. The bearing was bad on the pulley shaft and began squealing after one day. I emailed the seller multiple times with no reply so I opened a return, but thought I did it incorrectly, so I closed it to correct my mistake and reopen with the appropriate information and that was not an option. I contacted ebay through the chat, which is the only option I could find and they said I had to wait 72 hrs before contacting Ebay. I waited the 72 hrs then recontacted Ebay through the chat and they again told me I had to work it out with the seller. I again told them the seller would not respond so they transferred it to Customer Service. Customer Service responded two days later and said I had to work it out with the seller since once a return is closed, it cannot be reopened. I emailed Customer Service back and explained again that the seller will not respond after multiple emails and I closed the return by mistake. I have not gotten a response. The sellers return policy is 30days, which expires tomorrow, April 25th. Ebay is not helping, Customer Service is not helping, and I am out close to $200 for a junk power steering pump. Does anyone know how to escalate this issue beyond Customer Service so I can get my money back?

You closed the door to eBay for help with this issue.
How did you pay? Credit card? Maybe you can file a charge back with your credit card issuer.
Paypal? File a dispute for an item that is significantly different than how it was described: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/security/buyer-protection-resolution

Thanks for the advise. I screwed up no doubt, but there should be provisions for mistakes such as this. I will look into Paypal. Makes sense since the item was purchased through Paypal Credit.

Good luck.
It's just smart to have a second option.

You say this after twinkling just told you two? PayPal if you paid that way. If you mess up with PayPal, then a chargeback on the credit card you funded the payment with.
