I have not sold on eBay in a long time, specifically due to not being able to reach out to a live person with questions or disputes.
I have excellent, 100% feedback and would NEVER sell an item that was not authentic. I sold a very old wooden ladle and shipped it immediately. Left positive feedback. Buyer obviously felt he paid too much and initiated a return stating that it was a "resin reproduction". That is a complete fabrication and he knows it.
I am not familiar with the return process since I RARELY EVER had the need to refund a buyer in the past. I asked that eBay send the buyer a label so that the item can be returned. The site states that the buyer must return the item by October 22. What happens if the item is returned damaged, or the buyer substitutes something else? Or what if the package arrives EMPTY?
Have I paid for the label already and if so, what happens if the buyer doesn't return the item? Will I get a refund for the label? Will the buyer still get the benefit of the positive feedback I left him? Or can that feedback be deleted?
Thanks for the assistance from the community that eBay no longer provides.

Weird complaint, but eBay will not visit the buyer, to check if they are telling the truth. So, experiencing this is part of doing business here.
Ebay wants you to accept the return and provide a return label. (Or send money if the buyer is international.)
Doing this within 3 business days avoids a nasty defect and the risk that eBay decides that the buyer can keep the item.

Thank you for your reply, I appreciate the information. I have asked eBay to send a label and will refund the buyer's money.
When I receive the item I will do my own test on video. Wood burns, resin melts. I will keep an open mind about it not being authentic until I see the results of the burn test.
Depending on the results of the test I will decide then whether or not to reach out to eBay about whether the buyer misused the Money Back Guarantee.
Thanks again, I appreciate your help!

You're welcome.
It's a nice idea to test on video, but it will not help your issue. Ebay is not interested.
Refund a part, if you have a reason to.
Ebay wants us to solve everything on our own. That is not good for sellers, but for eBay it is.

Thanks for the reply. The only reason for a video will be to post in in the body of the new ad when I relist the item.
As far as eBay wanting us to solve everything on our own, I'm not surprised that their number of sellers has declined.
I appreciate your information!
