Just sold a camera accessory for $295. The buyer has zero feedback and seems to have signed up on eBay just a week or so ago. Now the buyer is asking me if I can accept payment by credit card (instead of PayPal). Am I looking at a potential scam? Even if the buyer pays by PayPal, are there any risks for me? I can still cancel the sale and relist my item. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks! Steve

Hi @stevestrac
Advise the Buyer to pay through eBay with the payment options they list at checkout ... then wait. If the Buyer thinks they can pay you directly with a credit card advise them that they can't, it has to go through eBay.
If they do not pay in 4 days you have the option to cancel the transaction on day 5 using the reason "Buyer hasn't paid". The Buyer will get an unpaid strike on their account, if they get 2 in 12 months they will have trouble buying on Ebay until the strikes roll off their account getting them below 1 strike ... 12 months.
It is not a scam unless they try to get you to text or email them outside eBay messaging, then they have your personal information which is not good. They might message you and say they are having trouble paying and want to speak to you or communicate with you as mentioned above ... then you will know it is a scam.
(0) Feedback Buyers are not necessarily a problem, just those who are scammers. I have sold to many (0) Buyers , some are Buying as a Guest so they have no Feedback nor can they leave Feedback when purchasing that way.

Thank you. So if I get paid via PayPal, I have no risk. Correct?
Thanks again,
Steve

The Buyer pays eBay not you ... they can use PayPal or other payment methods eBay offers and you can see those on eBay listings ... eBay sends your money to your bank account after the Buyer pays.
