Bank account and identification required for ebay payments. Why?

ebAY Messaged yesterday asking for personal I.D  and recent bank statement. Is anyone else being requested this from ebay?

Yes, every seller is required to provide this information. Without it, there is no way for eBay to pay you. Managed Payments has replaced PayPal as the payment processor for sellers. Learn more here:
