Baby Owlet issues

has anyone ever had the sensor stop working a few weeks after using it? been using it for 5 weeks now won't charge. the buyer here says he can't warranty it so i contacted Owlet and was told since i bought it brand new from Ebay that i will have to purchase a new one through them and it will cost $129 but will have a warranty. i just assumed that when i bought it the manufacturer would cover it for at least 12 months!

No.  Items sold on ebay are not covered by a manufacturer's warranty unless the seller is an authorized reseller or dealer.
