The unpaid item "strikes" will remain on your account for 12 months.
Not all sellers have their buyer requirements set to block bidders with 2 or more unpaid items in 12 months, so you may be able to find one of those sellers who will not block you. You also may be able to purchase Fixed Price items with a Buy-It-Now.
By the way, Ebay notifies you when you need to pay for an item, also you could view the won items in your Purchase History.

You can try appealing the unpaid cancellation records because of your hospitalization. That is not one of the specific reasons but it seems like it should be since you can appeal for a "family emergency". https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/resolving-issues-sellers/appealing-unpaid-cancellation-record?id=43...
But "didn't have any invoices to let me know" is NOT a valid reason to not pay or otherwise excuse not paying. "Invoices" are not generally issued in most transactions on eBay (it is something sellers do in particular cases, such as where the shipping and handling fee needs to be adjusted for a discount for combined shipping or to meet a buyer's request). You should check your Purchase History regularly (at least every 3 days since you have 4 days to pay) when you have a contingent commitment to buy (bid, offer) until the auction ends (even if you are outbid, you could still win at the end) or the offer is declined, counteroffered or expires.

Hi @phil433
-If you did not see invoices then the transactions had most likely already been cancelled
-Unpaid item strikes roll off an account in 12 months
-eBay's minimum default block on ALL Selling accounts is 2 in 12 months, however Sellers can set time periods of 1, 6 and 12 months and raise the lowest block count above 2.
-Sellers can also add members to their Exception list which would allow you to bid on items. If you see something you are interested in you can message the Seller and let them know that due to a medical emergency you wound up with 2 (or more) unpaid item strikes but if they would add you to their exception list you would be interested in Bidding or Buying ... then it's up to the Seller. (I did this for a local repeat customer who had some personal issues, so I added them to my exception list which allowed them to purchase from me)
