Authenticity guarantee not eligible after authentication??

Here’s the entire three sentences I received on a card along with the ring in a plastic baggie that I bought. This is the most expensive item I’ve ever bought on eBay, and I can only assume it went through the authentication center, they found a tiny error in the listing, didn’t reject it and sent it to me anyway – but absolve themselves of The promised authenticity guarantee that’s all over the listing. Now it’s not eligible – I think I know why but honestly, they could tell it was such a negligible mistake that it didn’t matter – they just wanted to collect the fees and make the sale go through — since when is this OK?

This form is so wonky that the entire description I wrote had to be scrapped because the image button wouldn’t work and I couldn’t submit it either. I had a much more detailed explanation of the situation. eBay, please get it together. I don’t know what this means if not “we know it was a pretty negligible error, but instead of rejecting it like we’ve done in the past for similar reasons, we’d rather collect the fees and absolve ourselves of the guarantee we promised, which is all over the listing. We know you bought it based on those guarantees, but now that you’ve received it, it’s not eligible and we don’t need to explain why.”

so now I get to take it to a gemologist and pay for it to be authenticated at my own expense, because I can only assume the item was not tested or touched at the authentication center.
