I sent 2 rings for authentication at the same time but in different usps packages. Both boxes were delivered at the same time early Monday morning 9:04AM California time, tracking for both state delivered to an individual at the location. Tracking is exactly the same for both packages, no delays. 1 Ring was authenticated in hours. The other I had no update on until 4 days after delivery in which I got a notification on the app that the item didn't pass inspection. I call a few mins later to ask why and during this call I'm told they received a tampered box with no item and I called too soon for their email response to come. Their email contained pictures of just my box opened once with no unusual things to see. Another message came saying ebay made a final decision on this and refunded the buyer. I was told on the phone that they will see if I can get a refund as a courtesy and to give them 48hrs for a call back. 2 days later I call back and told there's nothing they can do for refund, I need to seek insurance. Later I go to the post office to talk to a representative and ask how this could happen. They look up the tracking number and say if the box was tampered with it would have been stated on the tracking information and a red label should be on the box but since it shows delivered with no issues I will be unlikely to get any insurance payments as theft after delivery isn't covered. One rep seemed to hint at a common scam with these authentication places and thought I was sending shoes which I found very interesting once I got home and started reading on reddit and Google search I found lots of information of similar incidents happening.
I am at a complete loss here on how this could happen to me, I seem to have fallen in a grey area with no chance of compensation.
I trusted in this program too much it seems.
I need to advice and guidance here please as this was a 400$ Ring and I don't know how to proceed
