As of August 17, AMEX will no longer be accepted for payment.  As of August 17 I will no longer shop on Ebay.

As far as I know, you can still use your AMEX card if you link it to PayPal and pay through them.  eBay AND American Express could not come to an agreement to negotiate a new contract.  It’s AMEX’s fault as much as eBay’s.

You just registered on Ebay today, so you have not shopped yet, so how can you "no longer" shop?

There are other ways to pay for your future purchases.

"Starting August 17th, you will not be able to use American Express on eBay. However, we do offer a wide variety of alternate payment methods such as credit and debit cards, Venmo, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay. You can also add your American Express card to Venmo and PayPal to pay for items on eBay."

Assuming you wish to shop on eBay again AND pay with AMEX ... you just need to use PayPal.  AMEX cards can be attached to a PayPal account and be made the preferred/default payment source.
