There is absolutely no legitimate reason for a legitimate seller to tell you to pay by eBay gift card (especially if you are responding to an ad on some other website or venue), unless it was in response to your request for help in that eBay checkout was not accepting your other forms of payment.
If you sent the seller your eBay gift card codes (including sending photos of one side of the card and any information from the other side to "prove" that you have one) you are out the money that was on the card. This is a very common scam.

If not, be advised that eBay has nothing to do with listings you find on other sites that are pretending to be handled by eBay. If you see one, it is run by a scammer.
