Additional insurance

I recently purchased additional insurance on Eight outgoing USPS Priority Mail packages. One of these packages, valued at $300, has apparently had the contents stolen enroute. The box arrived to the buyer open and empty, with a label saying damaged/empty (I've seen pictures of it).

I am trying to find proof that I bought this additional insurance, and finding absolutely nothing on Ebay, nor on the USPS website.

This insurance was offered, by Ebay, as I was printing out labels also bought from Ebay. I did write down the cost of the insurance, so I have a number to look for, but none of these orders are showing that cost. All that shows is the basic shipping cost. I'm baffled that there is apparently NO record of my purchasing insurance. I've tried the AI assistant thing, that just wasted another 20 minutes.

Where do I find this information?  Thank you.

Did you buy USPS insurance or ebay third party insurance?  That will determined where to look and file a claim.  Make sure you have a photo of the carrier's sticker for a damaged/empty package to include with the claim.

Additional insurance

I bought it from Ebay; A check box offering it came up after I entered the label info, but before printing the label. After checking the box, the insurance cost came up, which I wrote down.

It did not say who was offering the insurance; I assume USPS, but since I bought it on Ebay's site, I'd expect to see some record of it attached to that sale's other info, or at least a statement of some sort telling me how to use this insurance I purchased through THEIR site.

There is no sticker, just the label I printed. I do take a picture of every package/label before I mail it, so I've got that to start with, at least.

I received no receipt for the insurance purchase from either Ebay or USPS.

But, I think I've looked at everything I can on Ebay, so I'll start with USPS tomorrow.

Thank you.

Additional insurance

Yes, I have read that info, but USPS says they need a receipt for the insurance purchase. That's what I am trying to find in my Ebay records. I did not get a receipt for this. The only receipt I received was for the postage cost itself. There is no trace of my having bought extra insurance on this or the other 7 packages I bought it for, on Ebay. I have looked at every invoice, every e-mail, every 'order details' page, every 'all transactions' page.

I'm currently working on the USPS website learning how to file a claim; I'm hoping this will sort itself out there. I'm hoping maybe the receipt is in the barcode or QR codes on the label I printed, but I still don't have the original label, that got mailed & I see no way to get a copy of it from Ebay.

Thanks for the help.

Additional insurance

I just got off the phone with Ebay. Apparently the checkbox I have been using to purchase extra insurance does not work. It appears that seven of the eight packages I thought I had insured were actually not insured.

So, I'll hope for the best on what I've mailed so far and buy my insurance at the post office from now on.

They did not give me the impression that they were going to fix this. They did say to try using the extra insurance checkbox at the bottom of the page labels are printed from, but did not guarantee this would work.

Good luck out there.

Additional insurance

Best insurance for ebay is from ShipSaver (not ebay's ShipCover or USPS).

If you purchased insurance it will be shown on the Order Details page along with the postage cost, if not there then no additional insurance was purchase.

Usually the check box on the create label page is for ebay's ShipSaver insurance not USPS.  Don't know why it would not work unless the amount box was zero or it was an item not insurable.  Regardless, you should have at least the $100., free insurance from USPS, so file for that.
