The Point of this Treasure Hunt

Have you considered that the point of Ebay doing this is to see everything that ebay has available? We are all doing endless searches for obscure items....exactly what Ebay wants. This is not about giving out $25K at day it is a marketing ploy. $25K a day is far less than making and airing a TV commercial.

it's not really good marketing......there are no tv, radio, or print ads for the Hunt - as far as I've been able to see - so if the purpose is to show folks what Ebay sells, then wouldn't it have made sense to advertise the contest itself to get NEW customes to Ebay.........? Their ad campaigns are of Exellent Standards and if it's not inhouse - it's a pretty penny.

My point is that $175,000.00 is a pitance for Ebay....almost makes me wonder why in the hell they are doing this to begin with. I'd love to see the stats after all was said and done w/ this contest. I can almost here the regretful moaning and groaning from the head honcho who OK'ed the idea....
