remember a few months ago a little boy at Sophie's school pushed her and she split her knee? Well for the past few months the scar has been red, inflamed, raised and itchy which was driving Sophie nuts because of the itch. So when I was at the doctors a few days ago I spoke to our nurse about it and it turns out it is a keloid scar which nothing can be done about till Sophie stops growing. THen it would be cosmetic surgery to be rid of it. Well on Wednesday her friend tripped her and she hurt her knee resulting in lots of brusing around the scar. On Thursday she was playing soccer with the boys and fell and burst the scar and got lots of other cuts on her knee. It is so painful looking now. She has to go back to the doctor on Monday to have her knee cleaned and redressed!!!! Ouch!!!
OUCH is right!!! She sounds like me when I was a wee one. I was a tomboy & was always geting hurt in some way.
I've got so many scars that if I ever came up missing, there'd be no mistake in identifying me!
Sophie isn't a tomboy but likes to run around mad and now and again play soccer with the boys! But her poor knee is sooooo sore it is to painful to look at!!!! Her dressing I noticed today is stuck to the wound on her knee so I didn't mention it to her. The doctor said I have to put her in a bath tomorrow and soak the dressing off and replace it with a new one!!! My feeling is now this knee isn't going to be a very nice looking knee when she is grown up!
I just know that trying to get the dressing off her knee tomorrow will be so traumatic for her! SHe will cry the house down!!!! I just feel so sorry because when she falls she hurts herself so painfully it makes us cringe at the pain she goes through! I must say to her though no running or soccer till after her First Communion!!!
The doctor said the scars will be disfiguring to her knee and only when she is grown and wants to wear shorts, bikinis etc she may become consious of the scars on her knee. She could just tell everyone they are old soccer scars and her soccer career is now over!!!
When she hurt her knee after the soccer match on Thursday she came home and told me she needed to join the soccer club on THursdays as they would teach her how not to fall. I said she needed classes on how to be able to stay upright at all times!!!!
