The James Dean one I was very close... too bad all the other clues had NOTHING to do with the damn answer. That was the only one that made sense in the past 2-3 days... but everyone else found it first.

I've clicked into a winning auction only to see someone else beat me to it three times.

Three. times.

What happenns is that there are people who will think of something and head straight to it. There are thousands of people playing, and one is bound to head right to "grease soundtrack" rater than searching "sandra dee first. She passed away a couple of days ago BTW. A couple of clues are so pie in the sky that others actually have a chance. I think that's what ebay intended, though it could have been more consistent INMO.

I was really close once. On 2-16 for 'Candle in the wind, 50's icon' clue. Answer was 'Marilyn Monroe steering wheel cover'.
I was on the page but someone else had already hit the buy-it-now button.
I haven't been anywhere near any of the others. I did think of Jane Fonda for easy rider but thought maybe it was the atlanta braves. She was married to Ted Turner who used to own the team. Who knows, the way everythings been going it could of been it.
Oh well. I'm glad this thing is about over.

Sticking with your 1st thought is the key. I've given up on about half a dozen and then found out I was on the right track.
