I played this treasure hunt dilligently the entire time and tried everything in my plower to win a $1000. I tried so hard because I am engaged to be married this year and so far I have no money for the wedding. Well e-bay now all I can say is please give me a $1000 out of the kindness of your hearts so I can have a semi-decent wedding for me and my fiance. Thank you.

You can alos rent the wedding dress & shoes just like with the tux. Also you can make a nice bouquet for around $ 15.00. Then see the justice of the peace.

Give the guy a break already. He was obviously doing this treasure hunt for the same reason that the rest of us were. I'm sure each of us had a use for the money, I wanted it to pay of bills, and to use for school. I understand where he is coming from, since I was just married in June and I don't have any money either. We each have a reason that we wanted to win the money, and who are we to judge that we have a better reason than the next person?

This is ridiculous, boo hoo why don't you donate that 1000 dollars to a good charitable cause. God im so sick of superficial bs...I got married at the court house wanted a wedding couldn't afford it but I'm very happy doesn't matter where it happened. And to be honest if someone would have offered money I wouldn't have spent it on a wedding, I would have paid off bills. Good God 25,000 would by a nice freaking car. If I made lots of money or had lots of it I sure the heck wouldn't give to a wedding cause it would be to a family that didn't have a car or needed clothes or food. Whatever

Can you not consolidate your student loans? I did and I only have to pay like $56/ month for the next 3 yrs, then it goes up to $100 something. So, if you are still registered at the college, how long have you been out? Why don't you just hold off on marriage until you can afford it. If you want to be a good provider, this is not the way. I am not trying to be ugly, just reasonable. Have you exhausted all other ways to money. Why don't you write the Today show, Dr.Phil, Jane Pauley, or something like that. Maybe they will feel bad for you and give you a handout. Thank God for people like devil... but I don't think your wedding should be a charity event. I mean, listen to lafleur5643 story. Now she sound like a person who needs the money. I am not much older than you, but old enough to know when I see something wrong. I am sorry, again I am not trying to be ugly. Just think about what you are asking of Ebay/ people...GOOD LUCK!

I am not judging you either way on this issue, but someone suggested that you have your justice of the piece ceremony with the family waiting outside, but you could take it even further by just having a couple of friends as witneses so the parents on either side won't be hurt, then you could all meet at a friend or family's house for a nice get together, you could even have some speacial vows to say to each other in front of all the people you love after the legal ceremony. No matter what route you take I wish you both a long and happy life together. 🙂

I was just reading everyone's opinion about this situation and just thought that I would post mine.

First of all, Kodiakwou, you need to learn that LIFE is not EASY. It's can be a struggle at times. Sometimes you have to do without or change your plans.

I'm a 27 year old married mother of 2 boys (5 years old and 15 months old). I got married in a church with a preacher, my parents, his mother and brother, and my friend and her husband. I had always dreamed of the wedding I would have but we, like you, didn't have the money to have a big, fancy wedding. But it didn't matter. We were together!! We didn't wear traditional wedding "attire" but that didn't bother me. Our wedding cost only the $25.00 we gave to the preacher/church. Having a BIG and EXPENSIVE wedding won't keep your marriage together. We've been married for 7 years now and I couldn't be happier. I'll admit that there are times when things seem so overwhelming. And there are times when I see something I want but then I think about the things my boys need (not want). They always come first. I put their needs before my wants.

My father passed away less then a year ago and I would like to be able to help my mother out financially, but I can't. Of eveything she did for me as I was growing up, I feel disappointed because I can't. But I guess that's life.

After we pay our monthly bills and buy the nessecities, we don't have much "play" money. But it's the road we picked and I don't expect someone to just "give" us money. It's something you have to work for and earn. If everyone would be truthful, I'm sure everyone on this board could use $1000. (I know I could)

Well, this was just my thoughts on this topic. I was just putting my 2 cents in. 😉

What a disgrace to men you are! You played the treasure hunt the entire time? Why didn't you go get another job? Even McDonalds pays minimum wage, and if you work there for 8 hours, well, you have 5% of your goal. Be a man! Get another job. Work 3 or 4 jobs! Take weekend work. Work your butt off until you come up with that money. And why would anyone give you $1,000 instead of someone who had to have emergency surgery, or a single mom having trouble feeding her kids, or a homeless veteran that is hungry? If you really want to get married, do it at the courthouse. If your woman wanted a nice wedding, she should have picked a better man to get married to.

Um... I can't understand why you would pin your hopes on something like this.

Everyone has a hard life, that's just the way it is. I was shot in the back of the head with a .357 a couple years back, and it's a family members fault - it wasn't on "purpose" but still their fault for being stupid. And i was a minor at the time this happend. My bills were not taken care of like they should have been - and my future husband and I filed chapter 7 not long into our marriage because you can only assume the amount of medical bills that I would (and did) have. We have 4 kids in the mist of all this as well.

Now I am selling personal effects to pay for more surgery - that the lovely insurance company feels is "cosmetic" - and that's simply I want to get rid of the scars that I wear because of that accident.

Yeah, I played this game - hell I even gave out ideas to help others win when I couldn't look things up. There will always be someone out there with a story worse then yours - I think you need to be a hell of a lot more responsible, and do not belittle yourself and beg for anything from anyone (which is what you are doing). If you were only "a year away from your CPA" then you know a thing or two about money - and should redo your spending, down grade if you can. Oh, and because I happen to be in the "accounting" field, I will let you know, that you can not write off Student Loans - they might "forgive" a month or two - which means they will wave the payments until the end of the note, but you can not write them off as you can Credit Cards orMedical Bills.

THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!! It is obvious that you are not ready for a real marriage. Hell you can't even take care of yourself, let alone get married and start a family. Hey devilpit guy, I am a college student to and could use some money for college. I won't drop out, no matter how bad my debts get because that will help me if I do get debts to get a better job. Hey they guy that asked for $1000, if you had student loans and stayed in school, you wouldn't have to pay them until you got out of school. Bottom line, you are not ready to get married. DEVIL PIT---Put me on the list, I could do better with that money, sort of like a scholarship. I can't believe you would ask someone to give you money for YOUR wedding. Hell if Devil Pit is paying for your wedding, does he get to smash your wife??? It is more like him getting married than you. Life's a Bitch, deal with it! I am.

I'm happy to say I gave my wife a great wedding. I didn't make much money at the time, but it still turned out excellent. Lots of people, great catered food, open bar. The trick is to save up, and have people help. Oiur parents made the wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses (which turned out wonderful!) I had my childhood friend become an ordained minister for a day and marry us (yes, in Alaska you can do that!)

Now, through hard work and dedication, we have moved from the realm of $10 / hour jobs to making over six figures. I am still in school for Computer Science (master's degree), have a wife and 20 month old little girl, work 40-50 hours per week, and manage an apartment complex. I also take sidejobs doing websites, etc. I am very busy, but at least I can provide. I say, if you are only working 40 hours a week at one job, you aren't working enough.

Here's my suggestion for your wedding. Get married in a backyard, park, fire house, elks club or something of that nature. Most ministers only charge a donation. I'm sure one of your guests could cover that in lieu of a wedding gift.

Your families and/or guests could supply the food. Don't forget you don't have to have a sit down dinner, you could just have a potluck.

Wildflowers make lovely arrangements and you can pick up vases at your local dollar store. Again this could be a done as wedding gift.

Any dress can be a "wedding dress". I'm sure you know someone that could add some lace or doctor up a plain one from the store. I wore a headband made from baby's breath with some lace and pearls. Prom dresses will be on sale in a couple of months. And for this informal setting you could wear a suit or sport coat. Of which you'll need anyway for future job interviews.

A honeymoon doesn't have to be expensive or done immediately. You could go to a resort that's close by for a couple of days. Then set up a honeymoon account to save for future travel.

I've always thought spending thousands of dollars for one day a total waste. And thought it robotic to go through all the traditional garbage. Much nicer to come up with your own ideas.

In any case I hope everything works out for you both.

Hey my wedding was FREE!!!!!(for me anyway)
Preacher -- Free... Loved to see young people get married and didnt have the heart to charge us.
Cake -- Was bought by my stepmom at Kroger.
Shoes -- borrowed from my sister
Dress -- Same as above from sister (was her sunday church dress)
Hair -- French braided by sister.
Husband wore jeans and a nice shirt. Sandles on his feet.
No church b/c we has the wedding outside at the lake. No fee there.
Bunch was made by stepmom.
Marraige Certificate was bought by my dad.
See a FREEEEEE wedding. You dont need $1000. It can be done free of charge. I did it!!

Hey Devil Pit,

Please tell me the name of your sompany...I'd really like to boycott it. What kind of company considers donating $1000 to a kid for a wedding!!! There are SOOO many more worthy causes. If you wanted to give it to him o ut of your own pocket - that's fine, but your entire company is behind this??? what kind of bs company do you work at? This guy WANTS the money - there is absolutely no NEED there at all. Go down to your local woman's shelter and see the single moms who are homeless and their children who have absolutely nothing. THEY need it. You are doing a foolish thing here, and your company is clearly fool of fools if they allow it. Again, please tell me your company name, so I know not to buy any products/services from them. This is absolutely ridiculous, and right now my only hope is that you're a fraud and he will never really see the money.

To kodiak - I have nothing against you, you just sound young and dumb, and we all were at one time, but seriously, even you have to admit that there are many more people who need AND deserve this money more than you. If you want to give your fiance "the best" give her the best marriage, not the best wedding, the former is way more important than the latter. Good Luck!

Yes it was great. That was 5 yrs ago and I would do it again even if I was marrying Bill Gates. Weddings should not ever be about looks. If you love the person enough you will marrie them inside a port-o-potty that has not be cleaned out in 2 weeks and a big fat hairy guy who went to a mexician buffett for lunch just came out.

Yes take notes. I even have pics to prove it and give you ideas.

Oh one more thing. You dont even need invitations. Just email everyone.
