Large Antique Display Case

Anyone have an idea what this is? It is 28 inches tall and 16 inches wide. It is made of copper and the top piece appears to be a handle.

antique military stove ? to keep food warm in the mess tins ?

Appears to Chinese based upon the design of the openings.  Perhaps a food carrier  of some type.
