Lamp measures approximately 6" tall. Made from a non magnetic metal. Pewter? spelter?. Thanks for any help.

I would say it is an oil lamp. The protruding "tounge" is where the wick would lay in. That's the good news. This appears to be a reproduction of the original. It has been purposely buried (see the whitish residue) to mimic age, also, the hinge pin is rusted and I believe the 2500 year old original would have a brass/bronze original. You should show a close up of the underside of the base just to be sure. Check early civilization museums- Crete, etc for originals.
