Help with unusual secratary

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Found in Wrentham, Massachusetts. My only thought was perhaps it started life with porcelain plaques.

Please help cause I got this guy here who would love to saw off the legs and turn them to make it more stable.

The porcelain or pottery plaques are obviously Dutch in origin. Desk brought over by Dutch immigrants? I wouldnt mess with the legs until you learn more about the style etc. A furniture expert should be along soon 🙂
