Van Cleef and Arpels Lion Brooch Authentic?

These beautiful pins are very similar to the Van Cleef and Arpels vintage animal pins.

I took a picture of the lion next to an article about one that was auctioned.

The lion pin has some type of mark on the back but I cant make it out, the other has nothing that I can see.

I'm not sure if they are authentic and I have searched and searched for "Fake, Knock Off" etc and I cannot find anything!

Can Anyone help?

Thanks in advance!

Clean it up, there will be a stamp on it somewhere.I can't image them not marking their jewellery. Charm

Very cute pins, but lacking the finesse and detail of the Van Cleef and Arpels example.

Agree.  An homage, shall we say, to the luxury design house.

These don't look anything alike. The eyes are very different and so is the hair, as well as what can be seen between the legs- and that's all easy to spot at first glance just on the tiny screen of my phone. These things jump right out at me. The color of the gold is also quite different, although part of this might be due at least in part to differences in lighting and media, but the color of your piece just doesn't look like real gold on either side to me.

I was actually given one of these costume pieces as a child, so I'm familiar with the piece. I don't know who made it, though, as I gave it away years ago.

If it were a real VC&A piece, it would be *prominently* marked somewhere with both a gold mark indicating the content of the gold, and a company mark, although you might still need a loupe to find and read the marks.
