eBay policies, direction announcement Aug 08

UGH! It's 27 pages long, so it's a lot to read, but I skimmed through a lot of it. This guy does seem somewhat biased towards eBay, and doesn't seem to "get" what many sellers are unhappy about. There is some good information here . . . like tips on spreading out your end dates on auctions to keep the 30-day DSRs balanced (though that's something that we REALLY shouldn't have to worry about). He talks about the minimum DSR requirement and and says that sellers need to work on getting their stars up through the use of "Best Practices," which is something that I believe is at least partially out of our control. What this guy isn't addressing, and what eBay refuses to address, are vindictive competitors or people just outright playing games with the DSRs. If a competitor buys from you and negs you, you can try to appeal it with eBay and *maybe* get the neg removed, but they won't change the DSRs. So long story short, I have to disagree with this guy saying that we need to work hard at providing better service, when many of us are providing outstanding service and still getting dinged. I'm not familiar with this Skip McGrath, but he has apparently been hugely successful selling on eBay, so I can understand his bias if he's making money. Near the end he says that nobody should leave eBay if they're making money, as if we're all making money so we'd be stupid to consider alternatives. The reality is that most of us are NOT making money. He's just one of the lucky ones. I'm blabbering. It's worth reading, though parts of it will probably make your blood boil. -- Kathy

Yeah, I feel about the same. But all up, worth reading. I also posted a '10 frustrations' link on the new forum - well worth reading! It's getting lots of comments. It's great to have another place to put up news about other places than eBay. -- ~Jillian artist, Jillian Crider ... google me!
