I'm very new to this, but it never occurred to me to EXPECT the dare-giver to bid on my DARE. I did enjoy the challenge of my "Pile-o-Friends", but I also spent two days creating it. First, I had to research the critters. Then I did preliminary sketches. Then I sketched them on my card. Then, I moved all my painting mess to kitchen chairs beside the computer, so I could access my reference pictures while painting. It took about 6 hours to paint. It WAS a labor of love. When it was finally finished, I was reluctant to list it. It was like giving birth. I couldn't think of a price that I would be comfortable listing it for. Still can't. If part of the dare is that we must list for a low price, when by the very nature of the dare we are doing more work on the piece and stepping out of our comfort zone, then I may have to rethink accepting any more dares. I would also like to put forth, here, that some people NEED to sell their art. I love this group and yes...it's a lot of fun, but for some of us, art sales = groceries. Sometimes I think there are those with "day jobs"...or spouses with "day jobs" who may forget that. Please, understand...I'm not pointing any fingers. I'm just trying to add food for thought. I won't expect anyone to bid on my cards...and I won't feel guilty for asking what I think they are worth. Honestly, I don't mean to ruffle feathers. I love all you guys...but I have to be honest with my feelings.
