What are we doing with 'un-done' DARES?

Just curious...are we just forgetting about them? Are we able to re-submit them? Can we complete them ourselves? What do you think? Thanks, Cherie

Well, not the only things but I have sold most of the ones I've done so far.

OK, I've worried so much now about the fact that one of my dares has gone undone that I've gone and done it. I hope the daree won't be discouraged and will still do her version cause I'd still really like to see it. The reason I went ahead and made this card is because 1) I'd thought about doing it myself before I made the dare and 2) just in case someone thought this was one of those 'unmarketable' dares, then I wanted to be sure the darer was willing to do it as well. Besides, I'd planned to go ahead and do my own version at some point. I just wanted to see the daree's first.... So, without further ado, may I present to you.... I'm very new to this, but it never occurred to me to EXPECT the dare-giver to bid on my DARE. I did enjoy the challenge of my "Pile-o-Friends", but I also spent two days creating it. First, I had to research the critters. Then I did preliminary sketches. Then I sketched them on my card. Then, I moved all my painting mess to kitchen chairs beside the computer, so I could access my reference pictures while painting. It took about 6 hours to paint. It WAS a labor of love. When it was finally finished, I was reluctant to list it. It was like giving birth. I couldn't think of a price that I would be comfortable listing it for. Still can't. If part of the dare is that we must list for a low price, when by the very nature of the dare we are doing more work on the piece and stepping out of our comfort zone, then I may have to rethink accepting any more dares. I would also like to put forth, here, that some people NEED to sell their art. I love this group and yes...it's a lot of fun, but for some of us, art sales = groceries. Sometimes I think there are those with "day jobs"...or spouses with "day jobs" who may forget that. Please, understand...I'm not pointing any fingers. I'm just trying to add food for thought. I won't expect anyone to bid on my cards...and I won't feel guilty for asking what I think they are worth. Honestly, I don't mean to ruffle feathers. I love all you guys...but I have to be honest with my feelings. Bettina

This was discussed when setting up the dares - for one, we cannot do it that way because of 'shill bidding' rules. But over and above that I have deliberately set it up so that each dare set has 5 unique dare givers. This gives greater variety and opportunity to challenge the dare takers. Anyone who knows me, or anything about me is that I try to make things 'fair'. For one reason or another, not all circumstances for all dare givers are the same, be it business, financial, or even personal tastes or beliefs. Therefore the rules will never include expecting a dare-giver to bid on a card. If they can, that is exceptionally nice. But there is no 'obligation' to this side of things. There is also NO directive re pricing, again, this is another instance of recognising the diverse group we are, with varying circumstances. ~Jillian
