What am I doing wrong?

I give up. I don't know what is wrong with my work - I don't know why so little of it sells and I don't know what to do. It is really hard to paint another thing when most of it isn't selling and very few people even look at it. I've tried to be cavalier about it but I really am frustrated. Since October 06, I've probably listed over 500 pieces on the auctions and on my store. Whenever anyone has bought something - I do get it in the mail quickly and send it packaged well. Is there something so wrong with my art that people don't want it? I was doing different subjects but they weren't doing as well as the seascapes and I thought I would try some stylized mermaids - but I've only sold two. What do I need to do? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

What am I doing wrong?

Just wanted to say hi to everyone and thank you for the inspiration! - I too am not having much luck in selling ACEOs at the moment, and was thinking of giving up... well, I HAD given up: my art materials have been packed away and put to the back of the cupboard! HOWEVER, thanks to all your advice, I think I will get them back out and have another go! :o) Helen P.S. Love your work, Diane!! Your seascapes bring back happy memories of some of my childhood holidays by the sea.

Diane, I just bought the Etheric Sea from your shop - it doesn`t have shipping costs to UK so have "requested total". Hope this is o.k. CHRIS if this is the one you wanted, HARD LUCK :-) Heheeeeee! Can`t wait to hold it in my hand Lynn

Helen, So pleased you are giving it another go - don`t forget to list on ebay.com as the UK listings aren`t seen in the US unless the buyer does a worldwide search. Go for it and good luck Lynn x

What am I doing wrong?

Hi Lynn, I wasn't aware that I could list on the US site. Any idea how I go about this; do I have to register as a new Ebayer on the US site, or is it just a matter of adjusting my existing UK-registered account? I had noticed some US sellers work appearing ont he UK site, but had no idea how they appeared there. Thanks for the tip! Helen

hi Helen, I am UK based, but when I list on the US site it automatically shows up on the UK listings too ( but not the other way round). All you have to do is log on to US site using the same username and password. The sites are connected. You just have to do your listings through US site., Danielle

Helen, I really struggled to list on the US site some time ago, but didn`t realise that all you have to do is log onto ebay.com and start a completely new listing - if you use an existing template from the UK site it will just just revert to that site. You don`t have to re-register. The postage is a little tricky to work out - I can`t remember how I did it now, as Chris (Geripatch) helped me with that. But just shout if you get stuck and someone will help. There is a thread somewhere with this topic, I will have a look and see if I can find it. Lynn

Helen, I just found the thread and posted a message to put it at the top of the list - called ¬I`m really confused" by Geripatch - well Chris, what`s new? ha ha just joking. It may give you a bit more information. Lynn

I live in a permanent state of confusion. Sometimes I'm allowed out into the community, under supervision. By the way Lynn, it was 'Spectacular Sparkle' I was after. Now I just need a little smiley face sticking its tongue out. 😄 That one will have to do! Chris

Today I am in a total state of inertia and trying to get off this computer to do some painting - think I`ll just have another cup of tea and the other half of my chocolate bar. Bye for now Lynn

you ONLY need the green customs sticker if your envelope weighs over 16oz. It doesn't matter what kind of envelope it is. Padded, sturdy, whatever.... You can send at the letter post rate if it weighs over 16oz, but there are size restrictions.(not sure what) and then you MUST attach the green sticker. :) If you envelope weighs LESS than 160z and its in a non-bendable type envelope, ie: padded, cd mailer...blah, blah...then there is a 13cent surcharge added to your post because it can't go through the sorting machines. sorry, if I sound like a knowallogist, but I spent a good hour reading all the fine print on the USPS website a while back. 🙂

Totally off the topic... but now I know what SFA means... but what does OOAK mean. All these acronyms are confusing to a newbie.

Okey dokey - Now I'm in it. Y'all went and bought something and if I hadn't checked this discussion, I wouldn't have even known it. I've been excited about it all morning. I have nice bubble padded large envelopes that I'm so tempted to put them in and not walk up to the microcenter. I have been worried about how little the cd mailers have in the way of protection. I guess if y'all are sending them that way - it works but I so don't trust the mail. I went to the shipping discussion pages a couple months ago and there were posts about packages being gouged and ripped open in the mail. Horrifying thought. Just listed something that is not a seascape - it is ugly, so I called it folk art which properly it isn't but hey, I don't know what happened with it. Its bright, I can say that - but what was I thinking? I'd rather do seascapes - at least I know they look better than this when I'm done. Oh well, off to be a shipping queen.
