WIP - mixed media green tree frog

I used sepia Micron pen, watercolor & color pencil for this little guy A friend of mine shared this cool photo she took of a tree frog on bark, of course I jumped on that like a duck on a june bug!!! here's her photo: I flipped it, rotated a bit and cropped it:

decided to use cold pressed (smooth) illustration board for the surface 'cause I wanted to use the Micron ink pen for the bark texture here's the pen work: scribbles, lines, dots and solid areas for the shadows

then I added some washes of watercolor over the bark and on the frog

more washes, adding more detail

that last one was just more washes on the frog, I was pretty happy with the bark after the first layer of washes on it. now I've added more detail on the frog with watercolor and have started adding color pencil

I'm inspired to do a drawing / painting of some of the Dwarf green tree frogs that I photographed at my last house, sitting amongst the water irises.. and one on a thorny rose branch. Lovely work Ann. Jen
