WIP: Altered Book Project #1

I approach my art mostly seriously, with an goal in mind and a standard that I strive for. Silly me! But that is how it is ... so there are times I do things for 'fun', and altered books as well as other arts and crafts are what do it for me! Years ago I taught various crafts which included 'memory books' which were altered books, but usually only few pages were altered so that it was more a display item. I've also done some scrapbooking/rubber stamp and many paper projects since then, too, as well as teaching. This past weekend I took the time to join in with an altered book project and thought I'd show you some of what I did there. It is a book that has been cut into a ♥ (heart) shape (when opened). I still have much to do on it. Hope you enjoy this... ~Jillian

In some cases the gold works - I have done MANY gold books. This wasn't one of them. So ... Coated the book with crackle glaze, then topped with antique white. PERFECT! (Well, at least I think so) ;) In the light, the gold shows through, in the cracks. It's unfinished, as I still need to add the fastener for the book ... so, stay tuned! That's all for now.

WOW! I absolutely love it, Jillian...its the kind of treasure you could look at for hours & hours. Sort of Alice in Wonderland-ish, if you see what I mean.

Wow Jillian, Thank you for this thread! You are so creative! I really like the beads, I can just feel the texture and richness they add. I have been gathering materials to make my sister a Paper Bag Aceo book for her birthday in September. I have more than enough materials now but have been lacking the incentive and inspiration to get started. Thank you for sharing, I am much more motivated!!
