The backside of ATC's?

I am just discovering ATC's and I am wondering what is the correct fomat for the back? Are there rules about the Title, signature, date? Is it okay to add contact info? Are address labels okay? I recently purchased a card (which hasn't arrived yet) that is mounted on the front of a playing card. I think that is such a fun idea, is it common to mount ATC's on standard playing cards? Thanks in advance for any information, tips, and advice anyone has to offer. Geree

The backside of ATC's?

When I started selling a whole 7 months ago 🙂 I used to write all the information on the back of my cards. Specifically, Title, date created, medium(s) used as well as type of paper, and signature. Then I was reminded about the importance of the copyright emblem with artists full name and year. Then a card I bought came with a COA, and I thought that was great. So .... These days, I print a separate COA that has a small image of the work, its title, date created, materials used (which includes the type of paper as well as the mediums), the copyright symbol ("c" inside a circle) with my full name, then a place for my signature and the way I sign my work. Finally, I add my website address. Sounds like a lot, but I've managed to fit it all on an ACEO sized form that I put inside a penny sleeve with the card (or separate sleeve if they want the extra border around the ACEO image left for easier framing.) Here's one I did for a recent ACEO: I also write with micron pen on the back of the actual card its title, date created and the copyright stuff. maggieB

I use an acid-free zig pen and write the title of the work (in quotes) and then my name with the date created and a copyright symbol. I figure these are the most important and there's not a ton of room to write anyway. -Jendria

I always sign, date, and title the back. On rare occasions, I just use my Chinese name chop to stamp the backs of certain brush painting ATCs I do (the ones without titles). If the ACEO is part of a series, I include the series title. :-) I vary my materials. I either use all acid-free, archival quality papers and supplies OR I use recycled bits. If I use a recycled bit, I usually put a buffer of acid-free material in between the recycled backing OR I use spray that removes the acid content of the backer.

I print my COAs on 4x6" index cards. Sample in the photo albums (click on image for larger view). On the back I put: My unique ACEO numbering. Title Medium © (copyright symbol) First name, last name, year. My signature My website Sometimes my ebayid You might like to look at other images in this photo album. By 'back' I mean the back of my actual ACEO. In the world of ATCs backs have often been as important to show off as the fronts, often these are fully decorated.

((often these are fully decorated. )) Very true. I buy Lissa Lush's ACEOs quite often and she hand-paints the backs, in addition to detailing the work.

I try to include the little eBay blurb I write if there's room on the card, but I think I'll try to be neater after looking at this scanned back. It looks too messy and not professional to me. Front of card Back of card:

This is all great information and a big help to me and my daughter! We never thought about all this kind of stuff since we are just getting started in selling her art. She does all the artwork, and I do all the selling for her. Neither of us have thought about what information we should include with the ACEOs. Currently, I know the paper/stock card she uses is acid free, because I bought them for her. I don't know about the type of markers she uses, or what type of pen she used for her signature. Ty just put her signature and the year she created the picture on the back. I don't think Ty uses any type of sealant on her artwork, but she does put her ACEOs in acid free polythene sleeves. Obviously this is all new to both of us, and we will have a lot to learn still! Thanks again! Penny D_PRanch
