Synchronicity or is there more to it? :-O

It's really bizarre how something obscure will come up in conversation like for example a "purple octopus". Suddenly in the space of a week or two you will see a cartoon of a purple octopus, somebody will have a purple octopus backpack, and there will be a reference to a purple octopus in a movie or the news? Coincidence? Synchronicity? It's happened so many times it's downright spooky. And now it's happening on Ebay. I think to myself I will do an ACEO or art of something and I'll find that there are several of the same subject already out there - even if it's an obscure subject. It's just bizarre. I haven't listed much lately because I've been working on keeping the thoughts from getting out. I'm constructing an aluminum foil cap because it's known to keep aliens from reading your thoughts. Will it work against the mind reading powers of fellow Ebayers? *spooky Twilight zone music*

If it is Jungian Synchronicity it is not entirely subjective. It has to be a very obvious thing not a small thing that can be looked at this way or that way. Read the work - you might find it more interesting than dictionary definitions. 🙂

Nechtan, I believe what you were talking about further back there is known in some circles as morphic resonance. The most notable example which was studied in the UK concerns blue tits pecking milk bottle tops. It was discovered that when one community first started this off it spread exponentially all over the country to discrete groups of blue tits who had no physical contact with each other. Interesting... :)

Yes, they say that's true. I started dating a guy with a 4WD landrover. Suddenly I saw them everywhere.

I lived in Australia in a city of 1 million people. I was leaving to go live in London (17 million people). A guy I knew was living in London and promised to find me a place to stay. The week before I left I found a girl to take my place at a parttime job. She told me she had a sister living in London, and asked where I was going to. I told her I did not know. She gave me her sister's address 'just in case'. I arrived in London, and the guy picked me up. Upon arrival I asked if he had found a place for me to live. He said yes. On the way there I said that had he not found a place for me I had the contact of a girl in Archway (a suburb in London's north), and gave the address. He said ... that is where you're going. I thought he just meant 'Archway'. Nope. Was that address fully. It was a house divided into only 3 apartments/flats. The girl lived in a flat downstairs with a girl, an Irish couple on the next level of the house in a flat. And the 3rd floor of the house had about 6 girls, and that is where this guy had found me a place to stay. ~Jillian

ONE thing: I think the problem resides in everyone using aluminum foil caps. We are ALL sending confusing messages to the cosmos, that bounce back down in the wrong head, echoing all over the place. 😛 LOL It happens to me too. I don't like it. I "invent" things. Things that my husband considers WAY too crazy to be patented. So I forget about my invention. I turn on the TV months later, and there it its!! My crazy invention in a commercial! I told my husband the next time I have a spark of creativity, he'd be missing a million bucks.... again. 😛 ( am modest I know ;)) It has happened to me since little. I used to think that, at night I go to a pond for souls, (In my mind we were like mercury drops that glue together) and we all feel what the others are thinking and the smarter/more advanced/older/whatever will get it done in material and not just in thought. Crazy. Second thing: Something funny happened just now. My husband had to fly to Tennessee. What was on TV in all the channels? The presidential candidates thing going on Tennessee. I change the channel, and they had the weather report for.... Tennessee. I had made an appointment with some people to come and fix something in the house. They arrived this morning and we talked. They had an accent that is not from California so I asked them where they came from. Yes, from Tennessee. I thought it was funny. 😄

KJ, I don't think it's being a copyCAT, lol. I listed a mouse in ballet slippers, and a few days later, I got a message from a really nice person, from Canada (I'm from Canada too originally), she apologized and I think she even offered to take down her listing. Anyway, I said heck NO, I thought hers was cute! There are certain themes that I think maybe people use because people in general like them... I mean, how many people have drawn Frida Kahlo? Or cats in general? Having said that, if I notice that someone else has done something that I too have done, I wait until their listing is over before I list it so it doesn't compete. /k
