Many people stick with Prismacolor Pencils. Great variety of colors. Also, they have water soluble pencils. They are great! Sherrie

The Caran D'Ache water soluble pencils I use are "Supracolor soft Aquarelle" but I hear all their watercolor pencils are good:)

Yes, Caran D'Ache Supracolors ARE AMAZING, smooth, and pretty. Can do so much with these, like Jane said wet or dry. And so many colors, nice and bright too. Prismacolors are nice, soft and blendable, but I'm loving Faber Castell Polychromos more, they have harder lead and I have a heavy hand. Don't mind information overload, art supplies cat get addictive

Addictive is an understatement! In the last year, art supplies have filled a large dresser, two bookcases and several shelves in the basement... and I just clipped another 40% off at Hobby Lobby coupon this morning. I'm thinking it's time to explore those watercolor pencils... Wee ha! QUESTION: What type of paper works best with watercolor pencils? I'm guessing watercolor paper, but hot or cold press? I also work with heavy acrylic paper and smooth bristol. Hobby Lobby never seems to have hot press water color paper in... I may have to resort to Dick Blick! Thank you! Jeanze

I use the watercolor pencils a lot. They even work well for me on bristol board. Just use a tiny amount of water with them. Lori

I've used watercolor pencils on bristol & watercolor paper (cold press & hot press). They all work well for me but I've had better results on the watercolor paper Jane

I use the "old fashioned" quill pen and nib with an ink well. The inks come in all different colors. I use the FW brand of ink. You can get them and much more at rexart.com. They have a great selection of just about any media, paper and other supplies you need. They also give great descriptions of all of the supplies they sell, including what media works best with which types of papers and which brands are better for the different types of effects you are looking for. Hope that helps. -Heather

Hey, try A.C. Moore, if you have one in your area. They run coupons every week, 40% - 50% off one item. I really like watercolor pencils. The set that I own is Faber-Castell. Good luck and have FUN with it. Tina
