OFF TOPIC: April 1st - Computer worm?

Here's the story: http://windowssecrets.com/comp/090330/#story1 SIXTY MINUTES - CBS News Show showed this is set for world wide distribution. It's in computers now and will likely steal bank and other sensitive information, cause denial of service attacks, and take over computers. Computers must be protected, read this. It's NO JOKE! Read this article on this link at windowssecrets.com (trusted computer gurus) for more information. OK, it's either true or false - I don't know. But certainly is a big story today. I'm always suspicious of any 1st April stories (April fools), but then, that is when some people like to unleash things like viruses. Read, and decide for yourself. Or check Australians, English, to see if it hit their computer systems, as it's already April 1st in other countries. -- ~Jillian artist, Jillian Crider ... google me!

Well, there is no news about it on Au news websites: http://au.yahoo.com/ http://www.news.com.au Where it's already past 7am on the 1st of April. It's only 9.40pm in England, so still a couple of hours to go. To check ... http://uk.yahoo.com/ -- ~Jillian artist, Jillian Crider ... google me!

Yes, it seems to be widespread on news and so forth. I got hit by the Chernobil virus years ago. At midnight my computer went totally blank. I was in Australia at the time, so we managed to warn others before it hit. But at the moment there is no news in Australian channels. UK is coming up on midnight. -- ~Jillian artist, Jillian Crider ... google me!

Microsoft probably pays to have these worms created so everyone has to buy new.

Hey Hey Hey! My hubby works for Microsoft! He backed up everything on our computer, ran 2 virus checker thingys, & defragged it. He even got our 3 adult kids to do the same to theirs. This is a serious virus. He said if it gets in your computer it snags your email addresses (among other things) and forwards the virus to all your email addresses.:-) Sue

the PC viruses are probably created from the antivirus software businesses, so more people go out and buy the new "antivirus software".

OFF TOPIC: April 1st - Computer worm?

Alright from what I understand, the worm hides in the background and the only way to know if you have it is to go to microsoft (or any of your antivirus,ie. Norton etc) and try to download the updates. If your computer acts up and won't access it or acts like you are not connected to the internet then you have the worm. If you can download the updates then do it and you will be protected. If you have the worm you will have to use an unaffected computer and download the security patch to a disc and then upload it into your computer. Hope you all are worm free! Tammy

Hubby just called to tell me that he's been told at work that this virus only targets PCs. So Mac users can breathe a sigh of relief. :) -- Kathy
