IDEAS: HOW TO: Create a simple ACEO display

Sometimes sellers send purchasers ACEOs in 'top loaders'. These are rigid cases for ACEOs/trading cards. These can easily be made into a way of displaying ACEOs, inexpensively. 'Top loaders - trading cards' can easily be bought on ebay (search). All you need to do is go to art, craft or hardware store and buy magnets, and possibly 'magnetic paint'. I bought 4 magnets with a sticky tape to adhere. You can buy all manner of magnets. If no tape you can hot glue gun them onto the back of the toploader...

This magnet is fairly thick, you can get slimmer ones. Then you just need something metal to put it on - refrigerator, Filing cabinet, metal furniture - OR you can use the magnetic paint, and paint a board, or item with it, then put a color over it, then display the filled toploader on it. HAVE FUN! :) You have an inexpensive ACEO display! Quick and easy to make. ~Jillian

I look forward to seeing them Judy. You actually made me think of another idea. In fact, two more ideas for using these. I'm sorry today is one of your 'difficult' days. *hugs* ~Jillian

OK. Here are 2 more ways you can use a top loader to display your ACEOs. You can purchase easel backs - I've seen them in Dick Blick's - made of cardboard. There are 5 to a pack. From memory a pack is around a dollar. These easel backs are easy to assemble. They are 3" high (a top loader is 3" at narrowest). These easels will fit a horizontal height of 4.5". Top loaders are 4" when vertical, so you can see these are ideal. Just peel off tape to expose sticky to put on the back of the toploader, and assemble. Display. EASY!!! Another way is to purchase inexpensive V-folding display 'easel' these can come in fairly small sizes, then you can just place a top loader in its 'arms' to display your ACEO. In the photo I left the top loader unfilled, so the easel can be seen easily. ~Jillian

Fantasitic ideas...Just seems like everytime I come into this group, I'm learning something new! Wanted to add my humble idea for ACEO's, actually this is how I send them. It's a little cover for them when they are inside their top loaders. And it hooks closed by the two halves of a butterfly... Took me a few attempts to get the size right (when I first made it) but once I did, I saved one on cardboard for a template. And now just choose the color of cardstock, trace, cut, cover and ship. For the two halves of butterflies (any shape can be used), I cut a little slit on the bottom of one and the top of the other where it attaches to the main square. Then fold the cardstock around the ACEO and slip the two slits together. I had found this idea somewhere on the net for business cards, so can't take total credit. :-) Carol

Thanks for the great idea Jillian, I have top loaders and it never occured to me to attach magnet to the back and put on my fridge. I just happened to buy some magnets 2 days ago for another use. And Carol, thanks for a very creative way of enclosing our cards. Those are beautiful! Even though I paint, I find I'm not really creative when it comes to thinking outside the box. Thats why I love coming on these forums.

Carol's idea would make a special 'delivery' envelope when sending your creation to a buyer!!! Rose
