Help needed with listing, please

I'm trying to list a non-art item, using my own HTML template, so I did a "sell as" and changed the category. It's in the "dolls" category if that makes a difference. I added one photo, which should be free. Then, because I haven't listed anything this month, it's supposed to give me a free listing, according to their message on the listing fees. Or at least, because the item starting price is an auction listing (not BIN), at the most it should be 35 cents. But when I get to the bottom of the page, it shows that I'm being charged 75 cents for some sort of picture package. I don't see anywhere to opt out of any picture package that I neither want nor need. I have to list several of these items so I don't want to incur a whole bunch of services that I don't need. I'm already not making money on these things. Can anyone direct me on how to opt out of this picture package? Thanks!

I think there's a check-box option at the time you're uploading your photo. In the box that pops up to allow you to choose the photo(s) to upload. -- -Ann "So I got that goin' for me, which is nice." ~ Carl Spackler

I found it now. Talk about a runaround. You have to manually UNcheck the box to opt out. Thanks for your answer though, Ann.

I remember a thread about this a few months back. A lot of people were getting burned. Apparently that opt out thing is buried pretty deep. -- Kathy

I seem to remember that, but I thought if I used my own template and did a "sell similar" I'd get around that. Not so. And be darned if I'm going to incur a listing fee that's unjustified for something that may or may not even sell!

Yeah. Agree. You have to opt out. Come to think of it, I'm not sure I did that myself. GRRRRRRRR -- ~Jillian artist, Jillian Crider ... google me!

Well, this one happened to me yesterday. I listed something for 99¢, and when I got to the fees portion, it said I was being charged somewhere around $1.95 for the listing. Sure enough, it was the picture pack. I went back and opted out, but I'll tell you, the opt out button is hid VERY well, and not easy to find. An experienced eBayer should be able to figure it out, but a lot of newbies are going to get burned. -- Kathy

The first time I listed anything I really had to go back and check several times to get a the listing right. Have you noticed the $21,000,000.00 aceo of a retarded bunny. Didn't know if this is a joke or a ploy to have people ask questions and forget to hide their email addresses from the seller. I searched for the highest ACEO and that is what came up 1/22/10. You can get $200 email bucks, wow looks like that would really be worth. it. Wonder what seller fees that person is being charged!

WTF? I found the listing. I have NO idea what that person is trying to accomplish with that. They have another one (same print) listed for 99¢, so called me confuzzled. The insertion fee on $500 or more is $4, so that's all they paid. I think it's safe to say that there won't be any final value fees being paid on that auction. Publicity Stunt. I guess $4 is a small price to pay to get tongues wagging. They accomplished it. Suckered me in to look at all the silly bunny stuff, too. (The Bunny IS cute, but you can get the real thing-carrots n all-for 25 Dollars, not millions) -Stef*

the opt out button is hid VERY well, and not easy to find It look me about half an hour of pissed-off frustration to find the opt-out, but I finally found it. And you're right, there are newbies who won't know to look for it. As for that bunny... what's the point of listing what languages they speak on their listing? Is this some sort of resume?

Whaaaaa? Did you see the ID change for that seller? He was "archeology_student," and changed it to "Pooh_Phee." Definitely a publicity stunt. -- Kathy
