HUH? Anyone else gotten this listing message?

I just tried to list an item (not artwork but vintage clothing) and was unable to list it. I got the following long-winded message: You can not submit your listing due to the following problems Attention Seller: Thank you for choosing eBay. In order to help maintain a safe trading environment, selling limits are occasionally placed on listings. At this time, you are limited as to the listing of certain items. Please do not attempt to relist this item for 30 days. Sellers who have a consistent positive selling history of such items may be eligible to have these limits raised. If you would like eBay to review your limits or if you have any additional questions, please email us at Customer Support. We sincerely value you as a member of our trading Community and look forward to a continued successful relationship with you. Click here for a window with more information on eBay’s listing guidelines. And down below it says: In order to help maintain a safe trading environment, selling limits are occasionally placed on listings. At this time, you are limited as to the listing of certain items. Please do not attempt to relist this item for 30 days. Sellers who have a consistent positive selling history of such items may be eligible to have these limits raised. We sincerely value you as a member of our trading Community and look forward to a continued successful relationship with you. Click here for a window with more information on eBay’s listing guidelines. Is this some sort of joke? They don't want us to list items now? Don't they know they're going to be losing fees this way? I'm on hold to speak to live help but haven't been able to get through to anyone there for about 15 minutes. How long is one supposed to wait in the queue?

I tried to do a relisting of some patterns and got the same message. Weird. Very weird. My husband's theory is that some hacker may have gotten into eBay's systems because it's the long weekend and messed around.

Maybe it was that fellow that drops in every now & then to tell us we are a bunch of idiots for listing on ebay!?!?! Maybe he figured if we would not listen to him he'd do something about it himself! :^O Sue

But the fact of the matter is, we ARE all idiots for listing on eBay, lol. But if there was a more suitable place that we could sell stuff on a site that has the exposure and universality, we would. I guess no one else was having this problem then. It happened to me in two categories so it appears eBay has centred me out for some reason. I couldn't get hold of live help and my emails are not been answered. Heh. Strange.

"We sincerely value you as a member of our trading Community and look forward to a continued successful relationship with you." HA! Laughing outloud! These new "limits" are completely outrageous! -- Lorraine Life (and lunch) is good! 🙂

Karen, I've not gotten this particular message, but I've gotten plenty of other downright weird messages in the last few days. One was the red flag telling me that I HAD to accept PayPal. The other was the same thing that Gaby got - a message saying that I had qualified for a special 10¢ listing discount, then when I hit the "list my item" button, was charged the normal fee. There are some weird things going on right now. Possibly hackers, or possibly some Beta testing taking place. The thing with the limits makes sense to me for people selling large quantities of questionable items, like gift cards. But vintage clothing? I'll bet you got the message in error, just like those funky messages that I got. -- Kathy

Okay I finally got through with live "help" who sympathized with me (hah) but said it was a "trust and safety" issue. She also sent an email on my behalf to them but although they "work" 24/7 this will take 48 to 72 hours to resolve (okay so I was sarcastic and asked if they were at the beach for the holiday weekend). So, even though I have listed these kinds of items before and gotten good, positive feedback on almost exactly the same things, they have put limits on them. I have never had a negative in the five or so years I've been on eBay, in fact I've only even gotten one neutral. Yet people who have gotten all kinds of negative feedback are allowed to list. Needless to say I'm livid, furious, disgusted and somewhat amused by all this. It's like the government of the old Soviet Union have all gotten jobs at eBay. I think I'm gonna go out for a bike ride, because there's no point in staying home and working if I can't list. Have a great day everyone.

Yeah Kathy, it's not like I'm listing hundreds of items, right now I only have 4 items listed total, and was listing a piece of vintage clothing every couple of days. Here's another kicker. I was going to list a blouse exactly like one I sold a couple of weeks ago and have already gotten good feedback on, so it's not like I'm trying to rip people off with hoax listings.

I wonder if the rules would be the same if you had a store. I've seen people with thousands of listings in their stores. Why no limits there? That's kind of a rhetorical question, since some of those large sellers pay a LOT for a premium store. -- Kathy

I think they send folks to 'Trust and Safety' when they can't explain a problem. I really do believe that. I had an issue (unrelated) and finally live help sent me to 'Trust and Safety' and after 72 hours Trust and Safety sent back an email saying they didn't understand how they could help.

I haven't gotten that message, but did have a go-around revising items last night. Every item I tried to revise, I got charged .03 for!! COULD NOT get thru to live help, kept getting an error message! Sent off a note via email and of course got the usual unhelpful stock message back. -- Guard with tenderness small things that have no words

Karen, seems like I have heard of this before in a group -- can't remember where. Anyway, someone selling similar stuff FALSELY REPORTED that a seller (you, in this case) was selling fakes. So, I would take a careful look at your competition. Gail, 3¢ for revising listings??? I will go BROKE!!!! -- Photobucket

Every item I tried to revise, I got charged .03 for!! I think we might be seeing glimpses into the future here. All of these weird message that some of us have been getting intermittently may be Beta test pages for future policies. In the last few days, some of us have received false messages for: - PayPal required as a form of payment - Special seller discount: 10¢ listing fee - 3¢ fee for revising a listing These pages exist for a reason. We're currently getting them in error, but the fact that they're out there at all is unsettling. -- Kathy
