We look forward to receiving your wonderful entries! As always, I¹m happy to hear from you... Kind regards, Lisa Ohmer Columbus Center for Paper & Book Arts European Papers, Ltd. __________________ Columbus Center for the Paper and Book Arts Hosting Follow Up to Successful Exhibit The Columbus Center for the Paper and Book Arts is having a call for entries for Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) for its third gallery show this fall, "House of Cards II." The exhibit is a follow up to its inaugural exhibit - House of Cards in 2005, that also focused on the emerging art of ATCs. It is one of the first ATC exhibits in the United States and the largest exhibit of ATCs in the world. ATCs are mixed media artworks that measure 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". The deadline for the Call for Entries is Friday, August 18. The submission fee is $10 and may include up to five ATC entries. Entries must be original works. All submitting artists receive a special artist's edition of the show poster and are featured/noted in the exhibition's handbound catalogue. New this year is an award in the category of Calligraphy/Lettering. Awards will again be given for Best of Show, as well as in the categories of Beauty, Originality, Use of Fabric or Fiber, and Humor, as well as a Children's Award for entries by those under 16 years of age. Entries will be on display at the Center from September 16 to December 9, 2006. The exhibit begins with an opening reception on Saturday evening, September 16. Once the show is complete, entries will become part of a traveling ATC exhibit. "After the excitement of last year's show and all of the beautiful works of art that were submitted, we are delighted to return ATCs to the Center with House of Cards II," said the Center's Lisa Ohmer. "This emerging art form, while more established in Europe, is really becoming popular with artists on this side of the Atlantic, throughout North America." ATCs and entry fees may be sent to: European Papers Ltd. ATC, 539 East Town St. - Carriage House, Columbus, OH 43215. Details and submission forms are online at europeanpapers.com. Also online is information about the Center's current exhibit - Speaking Volumes, The Art of Altered Books, on display through August 19. The original show, House of Cards, will travel to Nashville, Tennessee on September 8-9, and be on display as part of the Simply Southern artist gathering at the Marriott Cool Springs Conference Center. The Columbus Center for the Paper and Book Arts, includes paper arts studio European Papers which specializes in bookbinding, collage materials and imported papers. It is located in Downtown Columbus Ohio and may be contacted at **I deleted phone # (I don't think we can put that here in the groups)but you can email me wizzy99 if you want the number**** or at http://www. europeanpapers.com. **take the space out of the www. and europeanpapers so you can link to it** ------- SOME SUBMISSION DETAILS: € ATC must measure 2.5 X 3.5² and fit in a standard trading card sleeve. Cards should be sent as single pieces, not mounted or framed. € Designs can be vertical or horizonal in format. € Original works only. The ATC should be an edition of 1/1. For this exhibition, it is defined as a piece that is somehow unique from other pieces. To clarify: though the base artwork might be a color reproduction, there is some handfinishing work to make it unlike others (please see below, for exception for digitial art as a medium). € You can use any medium to create your card, including the use of computer generated art and xeroxography. In other words, a color or monotone photocopy or inkjet print can work to create your card but it must be the only one created (with the exception of artist proofs). € Your entry must be accompanied by the show entry form. Click here to download (Acrobat pdf 16k). € All entries will be included in the exhibition and will be displayed in the gallery. The show is curated for placement only. We have decided not to censor the show, but be advised that as school groups and children may visit, artwork of a provocative nature may not be publicly displayed. *Deadline for entries: August 18, 2006 Exhibition includes opening reception, evening programs and trading sessions. Award given for Best of Show, as well as, Beauty, Originality, Fabric/Fiber, Calligraphy/Lettering and Humor. There is also a Children's Award for entries submitted by those under 16 years of age. Participating artists receive a special artist's edition of the color exhibition poster and ATC (numbered for artists). All artists are invited as special guests to the Opening Reception on Saturday evening, September 16th when the incredible display is unveiled and awards announced! You can send up to five (5) cards per submission form/fee. The $10 submission fee helps to cover the costs of exhibit installation, community outreach, materials printing, postage and administration. The exhibit includes no sales of art pieces. Entries are not returned but will become part of a traveling exhibition. You can send in as many cards as you wish. You are not limited to 5 cards, but the submission fee of $10 applies per 5 cards (simply multiply the $10 fee by multiples of 5). Regardless of number, artists are sent one show poster. Please send only one submission form. In the case of mutliple cards that work as a series and/or mural cards, please send with a simple sketch so we can display as intended. The submission form requests the following information: artist's name, complete mailing address and email address. For exhibit coordination we ask that you also include this info on the back of your ATC. Your street address is used to send you the printed show poster. This show catalogue will list all of the artists¹ entries, cross reference by country and detail location within exhibit. Your physical and email address will not be included in the catalogue or sold to any third party. Please write legibly so we can send items to you easily and spell your name correctly. Exhibition poster and artist packet (ATC and ATC magazine article), will be sent around the time of the show opening- September 16, 2006. If you wish to receive a confirmation that your card arrived safely, please include a SASE (self addressed stamped envelope or card). Professional Artists € Paper Crafters € Photographers € Quilters € Fiber Artists € Collage Artists € Altered Book Artists € Graphic Designers € Calligraphers € Paper/Pulp Artists € New Artists € You!
