Certificates of Authenticity....

Hello All-- I have a question about "Certificates of Authenticity"...I notice that many ACEO Sellers say that they include one with their artwork. I have never offered a "Certificate of Authenticity" with my art...partly because I am not sure what I am supposed to be "Certifying" or "Authenticating". Do you give a certificate with every art purchase? Only originals? What does/should the certificate say? Does the certificate seem to matter to your collectors? I would appreciate hearing everyone's opinion and/or experiences. Thanks very much! --SMD

Re: Certificates of Authenticity....

I am dashing off to work. I have a copy of mine in a photo album here. I think there is more info in the tacked thread about information. Alphabetically. I print on 4x6" blank index cards. I always give them. -- ~Jillian artist, Jillian Crider ... google me!

Here's an older thread on the subject that might be of some help. http://groups.ebay.com/topic/Atc-Amp-Aceo/Step-1-Click/Coas-Use-Em/1500374449 -- Kathy

Re: Certificates of Authenticity....

I know that in the world of full-size paintings...collectors are advised to keep the COA in an envelope taped to the back of their framed artwork. It never occurred to me that folks would have albums for storing COA's for ACEOs!!

Re: Certificates of Authenticity....

Here's mine. I print this on acid-free cardstock -- cut it slightly smaller than my ACEOs and adhere it to the back of the ACEO using acid-free double sided tape. I sign this on the long line and put "x"s in the appropriate boxes. I am LAZY. I do NOT want to write all of this stuff on the back of my cards!!! Photobucket -- Photobucket

Re: Certificates of Authenticity....

I always send, both with originals and prints. Will upload a copy of mine tonight. Have had people before buying ask if I provide one. -- Guard with tenderness small things that have no words

Re: Certificates of Authenticity....

This is a scan of what I use for a COA. Bottom part is the backside. Use business card stock and usually put it behind the ACEO or larger piece of art. -- Guard with tenderness small things that have no words

Re: Certificates of Authenticity....

I do one that is the same size as the ACEO and fits in the same sleeve, behind the card, facing out. It has a postage stamp size print of the art work and just says that this is an original painting (whatever)by me, with date and signature.

Re: Certificates of Authenticity....

I have business card size COAs. It lists the title, my signature, date created and the number. I put all this info on the back of the ACEO too. Sue

Re: Certificates of Authenticity....

I had tried to put the scan of the artwork on the coa and just couldn't get all the info + scan :-( Also have some for prints that is similar and other sale sites :-) -- Guard with tenderness small things that have no words

Re: Certificates of Authenticity....

What great ideas on the C.O.A. I was printing mine on certificate paper (8 1/2 x 11) complete with gold seal. Due to size and not wanting to bend them, I was sending the certificates separately from the artwork. Thank you for the smaller format ideas. Whatever was I thinking? =D -- Cheers! = ] Kellie Paper Cat Designs

Re: Certificates of Authenticity....

I always prefer the smaller size, especially if it's ACEO-sized. That way it can be stored behind the ACEO itself. I've gotten a few that were on full-sized paper, and just threw them in a drawer. I didn't know what to do with them. Just too big. It's nice when you can keep the COA with the art. -- Kathy
